I've looked closely at both. The smaller struck me immediately as a good 'fit' for my truck and needs, but then I looked at the 3812 and loved the layout and roominess.

As I understand it, I can also adjust the gain. There's a switch on the dash. But the manual seems to be saying that the trailer brakes are integrated with the truck brakes, not acting independently as you suggested. Am I wrong?

How long have you owned the 3812 and how many trips have you pulled it?

The sidewall info on my 20" tires indicate the same capacity as yours, 3750 lbs. @ 80 psi.

Overload springs, not airbags? I hear springs are cheaper, work as well and with less maintenance. Any particular brand?

We spotted the new Cyclone 3812 at a dealers last weekend and really liked it. Trouble is, the on-line spec sheet doesn't give dry weight or hitch weight. Heartland, can you provide that info ASAP please?

New to all this and apologize is it's a stupid question, but I've heard the Ford 6 liter engine has had lots of problems. Have they been solved and if so, what year models should we avoid. We're looking for a used one to pull a 3210 toyhauler that we've yet to buy. Thanks for any input.

Sure would love to hear about your experience with the 3210 since purchasing. We're leaning heavily toward that same unit. Also, what are you pulling it with?
