I didn't have a lot of movement, I say less than an inch at the seam just below the weight sticker. But it was moving at both ends, which minimized what I observed from the outside.
Based on the tig welding I see on the generator compartment aluminum wall, the aluminum welds could quite...
Not sure what you mean by the "drain lines". I had a sprayer (with hot and cold) in the connection compartment that I removed and hook up a garden hose instead. We give the kids outdoor showers at the beach with it and it works great.
I have read numerous accounts of mostly Lippert pin box and frame cracks. A couple weeks ago, I noticed movement on the seam between the off door panel on the overhang and the bull nose trim . I have read here where Heartland will take care of the issue but only at their plant and there is a...
I have the same leak, no fluid on the ground, just oil around the hose connection on the door side jack.
I have bought removable hydraulic fittings for my truck and they worked great. If the leak gets bad enough I will probably replace the hose ends with these...
+1 on the Gorilla tape. Not only is it really sticky, it is the thickest duct tape on the market.
If you want to make sure it never comes off, before applying the tape, spray a light mist of 3M Super 77 aerosol glue on the area of the coroplast that will be taped, let it set for about 1 minute...
I'm a little late to this thread but I 'fitted' a commercial onan 6500 into our Landmark. I did have to modify the mounting base and make provisions for using 6 gallon marine gas tanks using hydraulic quick connects.
The two biggest things I learned from my install are: 1) The generator is...
I forgot to list the cost:
$6 -16 oz tub bearing grease
$20 -Handy Packer
$8 -Two 2-packs of seals
$10 -4 cans brake cleaner
$4 -Four rolls paper towels
$12 - Misc
Total cost: $60
Yes, it is a 20 ton. I have 5 jacks (3 floor and 2 bottle) and this is my favorite. It is fast and effortless, just like an impact wrench compared to a tire iron. Once you use it there is no going back.

Grease the spindle and slide the drum on. Then pack the outer bearings. Be sure to cover the outside of the bearings as well. Lightly coat the cup with grease. Push the bearings into the cup, taper side in. Install the cleaned bearing washer, tab washer and king nut. Tighten the king nut...
Now use brake cleaner and a brush to clean the brake assembly and spindle. Move the magnet to the left and right to actuate the individual pads so the linkage gets cleaned too.
Inspect the pads for wear and replace per the manual. They are to be replaced if less than a 1/16th" (penny for...
Here is a step by step 'how-to' for Lippert bearing repacking and drum brake adjustment. This is based on the Lippert Bearing Inspection and Maintenance manual and Brake Maintenance and Inspection Manual.
Figure 1-2 hours per wheel.
To get started, you'll need a set of seals (Lippert 122088-...
I must not have been alone...
But thanks for removing the Google index of my personal information. While I would love to help a Heartlander in need, it was not the kind of information I wanted to share with the world.
I noticed today that my mobile phone number in the PDF HOTEL member listing is indexed in Google and brings up the member listing in PDF. If this was in the fine print when I offered my information to a fellow Heartlander in need, I missed it.
I do not think it is a good idea to have this...
It really depends on your use. I have a 6500 watt Onan gasoline. I use two marine tanks that fit nicely in the hold next to the generator compartment. There have been a few times that we went dry camping and ran both a/c units all day. I burned through a lot of gas and it was nice to get a...
Double check the 20 amp breaker for the converter by turning it off then back on. Double check that the converter is plugged in and also check the 3 fuses on the converter itself.
Good luck,
John
I assume you are using an adapter like this?
Do you have a transfer switch (generator prep)? If you do, you will hear the contactors close when you power up which makes a clapping, clunk or pop like sound.

I agree completely with you RoadJunkie. When I bought my GMC the only difference between the 2500 and 3500 SRW was the overload spring and the door sticker. I added airbags. No other mods. The truck pulls our loaded Landmark up steep hills easily and comes down the back side safely too.
Make...
I have read a 1/4 cup bleach (diluted in 1 gallon of water) per 15 gallons in your tank. Let it sit for 30 minutes (24 hours is even better). I rinse and drain several times to get rid of the bleachy smell.

I would have someone run a hose into the toilet (or even a continuous flush) while you put your ear to the vents. You should be able to hear the draining water to ascertain the right vent. Same goes with a sink vent; let the water run and you should be able to hear it from the associated vent.
John
I have noticed that too. I think the kitchen faucet is pretty cheap. I have never been able to get the prayer/stream selector to work. More like a sprayer/dribble selector.

Some "gadgets" actually do improve your trucks performance. Air bags would be a good example. Or a TPMS. I am sure there are a lot of other gadgets that so few would need or want that they're not offered by the dealer.
Personally, I don't need any extra power or torque for pulling my...
The positive wire has to be there. Mine is a red #6 AWG. And yes, those Allen head screws are torqued down tight.
Don't forget that when you are disconnecting the positive wire, it is still hot (as it is also connected to your battery). I would unplug the converter and disconnect the...
I had a similar experience on our maiden voyage a few years ago. I figured I must have had an air lock either in the water heater bypass or at the pump. Once I got it going, the problem has not happened since.
Glad you got it working. Cold showers really suck.

I am no welder but TIG welders have become so inexpensive recently it seems like you wouldn't have a problem finding a local welder than would do that job for a few hundred bucks, tops. It looks like a simple enough job for any welder. The TIG process(for welding aluminum) is pretty easy as...
My sink also developed rust spots a few months after we bought it. I usually sand them out with 180 grit sand paper. Works for a while then I have to do it again. I figured it was a really cheap grade Chinese stainless steel.
You can also install an interlock kit. These meet the NEC requirements for standby systems. Like these:

and here is a Square D kit

I cannot answer your question as I have a GMC with a standard box. But, because the NBS trucks seem to have higher bed rails than the OBS, I have found the the bottom (back) of the hitch will come into contact with the top of the rails in a tight turn when the cab and 5th wheel nose are about...
I like the way you think, Rex. I can open the window up a little more for you Bill- If you're travels take you to northern Virginia, I could weld 'em for you too!
