Installing Hunter thermostat

I have purchased a programable Hunter thermostat but I can not figure out how to remove the faceplate of the Due-therm analog thermastat without possibly breaking it. As a number of you have made this change could you give me a hint please.

Squeeze the corners near the wall while pulling on the front half, it pops off allowing access to the mounting screws inside.

while squeezing the corners try pulling away from the wall with a little twist. that helps pop the cover off.

Yep, it seems to pop off about 2 milli-seconds before you think it's going to break off .
