Ignition Switch..........

I now know for certain sure how I, very occaisionaly, end up with dead batteries, and a "no start" situation.
When shutting down the Duramax if the key is not in exactly in the right position the "little red" battery symbol stays lit on the instrument panel on the top right of the display.
It is not good but at least there is a fix and not a phantom power thief out there........................................

When the red battery symbol is on in my truck, it means I am in the accessory mode... I am sure left there long enough, it would drain the batteries.

Hmmm. The only way I know of to be in the accessory mode, drawing battery power, is to leave the key in the ignition after turning the engine off. Something I NEVER do. At least not since I locked myself out of a former vehicle by (force of habit) hitting the door lock switch as I got out at a gas station to get fuel. No OnStar and had to wait an hour for the wife to rescue me with the spare key.
