Electric Hot Water Rod

I have a new 2009 28BHS North Trail that was propane (DSI) from factory for hot water. I had the local rep install a hot water rod and it was spliced into the GFI circuit. It worked for the first trip but now whenever I plug it in it trips the GFI. When electric option is supplied from the factory is it off a GFI circuit?

The GFI is there to tell you that something is wrong. The GFI is not a breaker, a breaker will trip when you overload the circuit, a GFI trips when there is a problem with the wiring or the unit. I would check the wiring or maybe the rod is defective and shorting out. You should take it back to the guy that installed it and have him check it out.
