Hot Water Tank Anode Rod

Does anyone know what size socket it takes to remove the anode rod from the hot water heater on a 2010 3055 RL? It is bigger than an inch. Is it metric?

Hi Gerhdo,

First welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and Family. We have a lot of great people here with all kinds of information.

To answer your question about anode rod size, it is either 1 1/16" or 1 1/8". I just changed mine about 2 months ago, but that is long enough back to forget what the size is for sure.

Gerhdo, try 1 1/16. Be sure to release the pressure by opening up a hot water faucet before removing the anode rod. You wouldn't believe how fast that rod can fly.

FYI, in the August 2009 edition of Trailer Life mag on page 56 there is an ad for a ANODE ALARM which might interest you. I'm pretty sure the correct size of the socket is 1 1/8 inches.

My anode rod plug is 1 1/16.
Jim, I wrote it on the wall because I knew I would forget.

Peace
Dave
