Down the road we go..

I just though I might start a thread that I would add to as we travel this year. I am looking for places to go and tell everyone where we are and a little bit of what is going on...

I hope everyone will participate and don't mind me posting our experiences.

After we left the Rally in Goshen we went north to the upper peninsula of Michigan. We stayed at Tiki RV Park St. Ignace MI. While there we went to Mackinac Island. Then we went to Indian Lake RV Park, Manistique MI. While there we went on a drive to Munising and drove along the shore of Lake Superior. As we arrive we found a neat restaurant. DOGPATCH. Hee Hee. That is a neat place.. but we had just eaten and so I just took a look around and took some pictures..

Then we went to A Mohican RV Park, Bowler WI. The park is outside the casino and it was good enough for a weekend. We next went to Cozy Inn Motel and RV Park in Wisconsin Rapids. Met Ray and Lin there for a week. Ray and Lin showed us around and we had a very nice time.

We hit the road again and went to St. Croix Casino RV Park inTurtle Lake WI. This was an ok park, but not a place I would stay very long. Probably the worst Casino RV Park we have stayed in. From there we went to Prairie Cove Campground Ashby MN. This use to be called Sundowner RV Park. It was a nice place but they charge $5 a night for dogs. It seems a lot of people would not pick up after their dogs. Sooo now we all have to pay for their indifference. This is a nice little park. But for the Dog fee we would go there again.

This afternoon we arrived at Wagon Wheel Inn & RV, Valley City ND. This is a small park. Not real nice but pretty level, has E, S & W and cost $20 per night. We will be here thru Sunday.

We are going to end up around Custer SD sometime next week. Maybe Monday or Wednesday. Plan to stay in the Mt. Rushmore area for about 2 weeks to get mail and such.

So this is where we are.. Hope to see someone on the road.. There is a North Trail here in the park. It looks like it has been here for a while. Grass has grown up around it. I don't think the Motel is real concerned about the RV Park and how it looks over all..

Well until next time.. Hope this is interesting to someone..

Well it sounds like you and the DW are having a good time. This year we are not traveling to the Dakotas. Find some praire dogs, they love cheeteo's. BTW, asking people to tell you were to go might not work out well, if you know what I mean. :D :D Bob:cool:

Bob, they dont seem to care either way. There is a rest stop on I-80, east bound, that have some little critters that look like squirrels but dont have long tails. They have a dirt island in the middle of the rest area and these critters seem to like people. They will come up to you and beg for food and then run back to there holes in the ground. I think that it is in S. Dakota. The pix of the te-pe is at the the rest stop, you may have been there. The other pix is of a town I thought was only in a John Wayne movie (the Cowboys). Guess I was wrong. Belle Fourche is in S. Dakota. Sure not prononced the way it is spelled. There are lots of neat places in the mid-west. The pix were taken last July, look at the clouds, and by the time we go to Pats moms place in N.Dakota they were having torndoes. BTW, that is Patty hanging out of the window of "ol' smokie" taking the pix. Bob:D

Been through Wyoming quite a few times. Looks alot like Montana. BUT, there is something in Wyoming that makes me sneeze. Your right, those are pairie dogs...went brain dead. Was thinking of Ground Hogs. I would rather be sneezing in Wyoming than live in California. BIL works for the company that is laying all the natural gas lines in Wyoming. But Patty and I bought land in Montana. Hope to be there someday. Bob:D

Here is a picture of a couple of WY prairie dogs at one of the I-80 rest stops. Didn't get the mile marker number but it was nearing the Utah border. Those little critters were not afraid and were everywhere running around.

Bob and Pat, keep enjoying the travels and keep us posted on what you are doing. Love the pictures of the gooseneck adaption and bicycle hauler.

When we were out at Sturgis a few years back we visited the Devil's Tower National Monument (from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" fame). Those little devils were everywhere. My buddy tried to sneak up on them...ever see a 300+ guy sneak up on anything but a buffet ?!!

DW and I sat back and pretended to play our version of "Whack-a-Mole" !!! :D

When I was a kid they were every where. I use to go hunting them with my 22 rifle. They were so hard to sneak up on I bought a little scope for the rifle. Yea.. but it was fun.. didn't hit many.. but I was fairly good hunting rabbits in the winter time..

Tour of Bridges and Medicine Wheel..

Well today we took off after lunch and ran around finding bridges. This is one of the things I like to photograph. When we went to Memphis in 2006 I took a picture of one of the bridges crossing the Mississippi and a guy from the Homeland security came around to run me off. Said it was national security and I should not be there. There are 3 bridges that cross the Mississippi and if something happened to them it would wreck the American economy. What ever....

We also visited the Medicine Wheel made by the Valley City State University.

If your intrested in the pictures you can go here and take a look..
Valley City South Dakota. Valley City is not a large city but it does have a few interesting things. We also went to a Winery east of the city, about 20miles. Bought a couple of nice wine.

Church tomorrow and Down the road we go on Monday..

I have been asked to consider using the blog features to post my travels rather than use the forum. So this will be my last post here.

I don't think there is much activity in the blog area, as I just went there to see what was posted. I normally read the forum and not the Blogs. I suspect most everyone does the same thing. I have my own blog and don’t care to keep up two.

I know other forums have travel threads and thought it might be interesting to post here and get responses from those interested.

Thanks for all the responses and I hope to see you down the road..

Bobcat,

Where are you now? In the past three weeks, we haven't yet had a day below 100 degrees in Central Texas. Bet you're doing a little better than that!
