Tv through stereo system

I am sure this has been discussed many times but I can not find a reference to it. Is there a way to run the sound from my tv to my samsung cd dvd player radio so that the sound comes through the external speakers?

You have to run a cable (not supplied) between the AUX on the TV and the AUX on DVD player. Switch the DVD to AUX when you want to use the surround sound on the TV. At least that is what I did for our Toshiba TV and Zenith player.
