We arrived in Hermiston, OR yesterday and are thrilled to be on level, paved lot!:D Only drawback is the longest length sites are 60' which does not allow room for our Augusta and Dodge. The truck is parked in the row in front of us in a much shorter site (at no extra charge). This is a PA park so great stay for a couple of nights on our way to Silverton, OR where we will be staying for a month.

No trees but that's okay with us for our satellite. Park wi-fi is fast. A must for anyone visiting here - go to Hale's Tavern on Main Street downtown. A tad pricey but when you see the portions, you know why. Meals are huge and it is a place two people could easily share one meal. Delicious and freshly made stuff. Got here at the right time for fresh produce, especially watermelons. There was a slice of melon on each of our plates (yes, we got togo boxes!!!) and realized it was so good we left and went immediately to a local produce stand to buy two melons to take with us. Melon fields, carrots, apples, peaches are all around this area.

We drove over to Umatilla, WA to see the McNary Dam on the Columbia. On our way back we saw a Bighorn on Hwy 14, Lewis and Clark Trail, heading to a nearby RV park in Umatilla.

Today, we had a pleasant surprise as a 2009 Landmark Augusta pulled up next to us. George and Jan Truckee have just sold their house and are full-timing. They are not on the forum but hope to be soon.

We hope to see many more HLs as we leave Friday (8-14) heading for Silverton and during our stay there. If you are in the area, stop by and say Howdy.;)

Are you going to the Silver Spur RV park in Silverton? We were just there in June and it is a very nice park.
While there visit the Oregon Gardens, it is very very nice.
We are presently at the Lewis and Clark State Park 19 miles east of Williston, ND. It is a very nice park on the shores of Lake Sakakawea.

Thank you Steve and Sharon for the information about Oregon Gardens. It is on our list of stuff to see! Yes, we will be in Silverton at Silver Spur. We haven't made it to ND yet but maybe we will in 2011 when we return west. 2010 we plan to spend on the eastern side of the U.S. (trying to get our places visited filled out like yours)

We are so thrilled that the temperatures have finally dropped out of the 100's here and getting back to normal 70's and 80's. Today in Hermiston is so nice but windy. We will probably be bucking head winds on our trip tomorrow. Silverton is in the 70s for several days after we arrive.

Enjoy your visit. Safe travels. CJ

If you like blackberries they should be ripe now. When we were there in mid July the bushes were loaded but still green. If left to themselves, blackberries would very well take over the Washington, Oregon area.
We visited Steve's family in the area while there.
Enjoy your visit and the area.

Great Bob and Joyce. Look forward to meeting you. Glad to have the company. Our space number is 76.

We spotted a BH and a Sundance as we traveled west on I-84. They were heading east.

When we arrived at Silver Spur RV park, we immediately spotted a LM about three rows in front of our site and then there is a Cyclone in the long-term parking. Will try to meet the owners this weekend. We noticed a multitude of fruit trees and bushes as well as onions and potatoes so we get to visit the local produce stand tomorrow. Beautiful country. Loved the drive parallel to the Columbia River for most of our journey to Silverton. I had not realized what a wine country this region has become. Several hillside scenes of grapes growing and then the Columbia flowing along reminded me so much of the Rhein and Germany.

If you haven't been to this neck of the woods, we heartily recommend making it one of your future destinations.
