Coat Closet Door Frame Loose

 I opened the coat closet door to hang up my cap (the closet door just inside the main entrance door) and it shook. To make a long story short, the frame had pulled loose at the top and hinge side by almost an inch. Nothing but luck kept it from falling off and breaking. I removed the door and hinges, removed the panel inside the closet to verify that there was something to secure the frame, (there is a 1 x 4) drilled pilot holes in the frame behind the hinges and put three 1 1/2 deck screws through the frame and rehung the door. Something to watch out for.

I had the same thing happen to me. I fixed it with the old toothpick trick. I got some wood glue dipped the toothpicks into glue and inserted the toothpicks into the door hinge holes, let dry and trimmed the ends off and put the screws back into the door hinges. This was last summer and still holding good and strong.
