We have two cats ( Sasha a Maine Coon and Dolly a Turkish Angora ) and love them both. They go everywhere with us and everyone that meets them loves them (they know how to attract attention). Thanks for the great infoo on animal travel, since we are new to this!

We had a Maine Coon, male about 10 years ago. We really loved that guy, but we sadly had to have him put down when he was only 20 months old. His lungs were destroyed by FIP which the Vet says he contracted when a kitten. It lays dormant for about 2 years before it starts destroying the cat. He was only half way through his growing cycle and weighed in at 17 lbs and was not fat. We had high hopes of showing him and using him for a stud, as he had a really good pedigree.

We found that the cattery in Calif that he came from had gone out due to the FIP problem. And they had phone disconnected and moved, so I was told by another breeder.

Maybe another one some day. :)

We had one, too. Adopted Gizzy when she was about 2 1/2 yrs old from a co-worker. Maybe not a show cat, but she was a sweetie, big lap cat. And a survivor. Got her through a urinary infection, chylo-thorax, and hyperthyroidism. Finally lost her at 16 1/2 yrs. due to a cancerous tumor in her nasal passage back in 2003. We treated her with a Flo-Vent inhaler and meds, but finally had to make the call.

Bruno & Mario (2).jpgWe just got two Maine Coons {Bruno & Mario} about 6 weeks ago and they are now 5 1/2 months old and weigh over 7 lbs. each. They are real charmers and I suspect will travel well but won't make their first trip till late Feb. Hope they enjoy trailering.
They do not have paperwork but definitely look like the breed.
We lost our Himi early this year at 20 yrs. old and it was a tough loss since she traveled everywhere with us. Hope these guys do as well as she did.
