Great Campground in the Smokys

Over the 2004 Labor Day holiday, we spent a week in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennesee (and North Carolina).

I researched campgrounds in the spring, reading reviews and ratings and we settled on Tremont Hills Campground in Townsend, TN.

We stayed on site 24, right on the Little River. This was a great site and any of the other full-hookup sites along the river would be fine too. The only downside is some road noise as cars file out of the Smokys for the night.

There are many, many campgrounds in Townsend as well as Pigeon Forge and in between. We opted to stay away from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge for a bit less traffic, hustle and bustle and turns out, Townsend lives up to their motto as the Peaceful Side of the Smokys. We'd stay at Tremont Hills again.

Below are a few pictures of the campground.
