Something every towing driver should know!!!

Hey there race fans. Truck U (Speed Channel) did a Kodiak disc brake install on a Work & Play trailer.

The video from Kodiak's website starts out with a Cyclone being the only recognizable vehicle in the video!

Gang:
In watching this video, I learned something IMPORTANT about electric trailer brakes. This braking system depends on the force of electromagnetisim, and ELECTROMAGNETIC FORCE IS REDUCED AND EVENTUALLY ELIMINATED BY HIGH HEAT - LIKE FROM BRAKING PAD/DRUM FRICTION! This is known as the "Curie Point". Google this term or see the Wikipedia entry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curie_temperature

The gist of all of this is that if you use your trailer brakes too long and hard, they can cease to work, not just from brake pad fade, but from the electromagnets not pulling the shoes into contact with the drums. This sure seems a strong argument for hydraulic brakes.
