A/C cover

It's been wet here in the Portland area for awhile and the forecast is for continued wet. I am getting ready to do the winterization thing for the first time and was wondering about putting a cover on the A/C unit. What are the pros and cons? Do I need to wait for a spell of dry weather or just cover it up?

Thanks

Gaffer, I cover my A/C and then cover the whole coach with an ADCO tyvek cover. I do both after a couple of dry days. Double protection is good. I also use a cover over my awning, made from plastic rain gutter and some velcro strips. This keeps the top 12" of the awning from fading and dry-rotting. The sun is intense here in Nevada @ 5500 feet above sea level.
