Do you clear your slide awnings before closing up? And how?

I don't have an RV with slides or slide awnings yet, but hope to in Q1-2005.

I am wondering if those of you with slide awnings clear leaves, needles and twigs from them before sliding the room in?

If you do, how do you do it? Ladder and broom? Hose from the ground? Also, which do you think is worse - rolling up your awnings wet (after hosing them off) or with leaves (not doing anything to clear them)?

Just getting input before I own an RV with all the goodies.

Cleaning slide tops

Jim,
I saw a neat idea from another forum that sounds great. The general feeling was that toppers had more disadvantages than advantages so this guy uses a towel with a rope tied to each end and with him on one side of the slide and his wife on the other. they just pull back and forth going from back to front cleaning the top of the slide. Several replies voiced they had tried it and it worked great. Something to try maybe.

Slide Top Cleaning Tip

Hi Jack,

Thanks for the towel tip for cleaning slide tops. For those without slide toppers, this sounds pretty viable.

For me though, my rig is coming with slide toppers as standard equipment now. Hope I like them!

Take care,

Jim
