Instead of just taping the control board to the back of the 12 gal. suburban water heater hang it from the plumbing near the water with wire ties, which is what the repair tech did with ours after it got wet laying on the floor near the leaking check valve on the water heater. Also, replace the plastic check valve with a better one.
