Slide awning fabric replacement

Has anybody replaced the fabric on their awnings with something quieter?

Last time we were out, the wind and noise from the slide awnings was so bad, that I actually had to take off the fabric. To my surprise, the awning material was in ok shape, but it was noisy like a bag of chips. If you bend it in your hand, it it crackled. So, if you go to a place called Hurricane, the crackle turns into like a 747 taking off.

I was thinking of something a bit more flexible, and perhaps not necessarily waterproof. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Last week we had a motor home parked next to us here in TX. The guy just had a new fabric, canvas, looking kinda slide cover installed. I don't know what it sounded like in the wind because when ever the wind kicked up he brought the slide in. So I guess there options on material.

Peace

Tim, last trailer we had was a Carefree Eclipse with an acrylic canvas awing. Much better material than the standard vinyl. Well, the whole awing was much better than our Dometic we have now.
