I always charge my batteries in place. I just connect a battery charger to one of the batteries and leave it on for a day or two and both batteries are charged. I have never had a problem in over 25 years. Be sure to monitor the water levels unless they are sealed.

Never had a problem with charging in place. Ours is always hooked to shore power at home. Just make sure that you check the water level from time to time.

The new converters are like a trickle charger. Just check the water about once a month.
