Get a Mountain Directory which is published by R&R Publishing, Inc., 1-800-594-5999. It is written for truckers and RV drivers and gives locations and descriptions of mountain passes and steep grades. There is one for the east and one for the west. We plan our route then consult the Mountain Directory. If there is a pass or grade we are uncomfortable with we change the route.

Pulled a 5th wheel over this road from Missoula to Lewiston. It's a wonderful and memorable drive. An easy pull. It's a winding road that follows the Lochsa river and the route of Lewis and Clark. You'll want to take your time. The scenery is spectacular. Don't miss the old ranger station - now a historical museum and interpretive center. Here is a link.
