Altitude pressure question

Got a question about altitude change and the effects on valves, etc. We recently left Indiana and went to Colorado Springs, when we got there and I took the cap off the sewer pipe it literally blew off (pressure change in altitude). Same thing happens with any sealed container (chips, milk, etc), then on our way back when we removed the cap again, it was the reverse, I had to pull hard to remove the cap it was sucked onto the end of the pipe. I'm just curious for those that travel through the mountains, etc, could this have the potential to damage the valves in the system? and should we relieve the pressure at times when making altitude changes?

I have a sewer with the 3/4" threaded cap. I leave the 3/4" threaded cap off when I am traveling. That way any change in pressure, water buildup etc is gone when I arrive at my destination.
