Smoking Tire - Locked Brake

I was pulling my Sundance through town recently. I stopped at a light, waiting to turn left. When the light changed, it felt like the truck was sluggish to get started. As I made the left turn, I noticed a smoke cloud from a left tire on the Sundance. It stopped smoking almost when I noticed it.

I have not ran into brake problems yet, but this sure felt and acted like a brake lock-up just on one wheel.

The tire lost a little tread where it was dragged.

Any suggestions for what I should look for or do to prevent this from happening again?

It is possible you have some grease on the brakes-magnet. It could also be possible the brake was adjusted too tight. I would think it would be the grease.

Pull over...... or take it to a repair shop now. Remove the wheel, axle nut, drum. The grease seal may be the problem or it could be something else. (have a spray can of brake cleaner ready). The tire may be ruined now because its "flat spotted".
