My 2010 3010 trailer weights w F250....

Just for future reference if any one needs it at a later time. I weight my 3010 on a certified truck scale and these were the weights I came up with. I let you do any math if you need it.

I have a 2008 Fort f250 s/b extended cab diesel truck I weighed with it as well.
the truck had 1/2 tank of fuel and the trailer had ~25 gals of water and 3/8 tank of fuel on board.

Truck and trailer total = 20600 lbs
Trailer alone = 12700 lbs
Trailer on truck but trailer tires off of scale = 10700 lbs
Trailer on truck but only front axle of truck on scale = 4620 lbs

After all the math there isn't a great deal of wieght left over for bikes, food, water and more gas.

I weighed mine as soon as I bought it. Mine weighed in at 12200 dry. About the same as yours if you dumped the fluids. That leaves 1800 lbs cargo capacity according to sticker. But technically you could load another 4000 lbs on those axles and still be within their limits. Your numbers give you a 2800 lb pin weight. Exactly the same as mine. Leaving only about 9400 on the axles when empty.

Interesting, I totally forgot about all the weight on the truck and not on the axles. I'd still think we'd need to stay below the 14k trailer weight IF we were to ever get stopped. I'm also thinking about moving up to a 1 ton truck when my lease is up just because we are almost maxed on the cargo weight of the truck.

It's pretty tough to stay within the sticker weight on a 3010. I added 4 GC batteries which each weigh about 60 lbs each. So there's another 240 lbs to my dry weight. Once I fill the gas tank, add a bit of water, load the BBQ, and some food and gear I'm pushing 14K. That's before I put the toys in the back.

My 3010 new weighed 10470 on the axle (scales at Mor/Ryde) and 2500 on the pin for a total of 12970. Full water and I have a washer dryer.
I am way over that now and expect to be looking for a new truck sooner rather then later.

You will have to go to a F450 range to gain anything. The one ton trucks have the same capacity as the HD 3/4 with the only benefit the stability of duals and tire loading.

Interesting info I've been sweating bullets with my F-350 power stroke as I have yet to take delivery of my 3612 and am a complete virgin......

Sorry, but I can't figure how the pin weight was obtained without weighing the truck by itself before loading with the trailer. Is it just a percentage of the total trailer weight? Seems a little inaccurate to me.

Based on what you guys are saying, I'm glad I didn't get anything bigger then my 3010!

For what it's worth, Heartland doesn't seem to allow this type of math. The GVWR is the GVWR regardless of the axle ratings adding up to more. You can't deduct the pin weight to use as additional cargo weight. Don't ask me why, but I assume the frame rating.

But some of the Cyclones include the pin for the GVW (20,500 vs 18,000)

To add to what porthole said, as well as rtataryn, I think you do get to count the pin weight in addition to the gvwr (14,000 in regards to the 3010 model).
Just look at Keystone Fuzions and even HL's own Landmarks and I think BH models.
The Fuzion 302, 305, and 322 all have the same 7k lb dual axles that our 3010's do. They list roughly 11,500 dry and 4,500 ccc putting them at 16,000 gvwr, yet our Cyclone 3010's are listed at 14k gvwr. I don't know how the Fuzion gets away with that as they only put E rated tires like our Cyclones.
The Landmark also has dual 7k's as well, but they put G rated tires on and also list a 16,500 gvwr (has to be including pin weight in this figure as G rates tires only get you to 15k capacity).
It's all very confusing, but I think all of us with trailers that only go off the axle #'s added up alone, to come up with gvwr, are safe to add pin weight when knowing whether we are overloaded or not.

My 16 k Landmark has a 3700 pin weight. The 16k includes the pin weight.

I don't know if it matters, but the Landmarks have 12 inch I-beams as opposed to the 10 inch I-beams on the Cyclone 3010.

Somewhere on this board Heartland addressed this already. You can't subtract pin weight...according to them.

I've read elsewhere that the frames are different for each manufacturer even when they're all built by Lippert. Each specs his own. Therefore, Fuzions have nothing to do with it. Point is, 10k triple axles on a 4000lb rated frame is still...just 4k.

Re: My 2010 3010 trailer wieghts w F250....

Interesting thread.

When I was shopping for a TH, a major factor in my buying decision was the frame/axle configuration on the '09 3210 vs. the '10 3010. They're the same size and floor plan, but the old model 3210 was built on 12" beams and 3x6K axles. Same undercarriage as the larger, 18K gross units. I liked the extra safety factor, even if not the extra weight. The new 3010 is on 10" beams and 2x7K axles. I think you're well advised to be cautious about overloading that rig - i.e. exceeding 14K gross, including pin weight.

Meanwhile - my F250 Super Duty pulls my 16K wagon without any problems, so I think you're OK there.

Just my $.02 worth...
