Loud Brakes...

My brakes have always been loud since purchase last summer but now they seem to be louder and have started to squeak each time I apply them. I asked the dealer about the noise at purchase time and they said it was like the old bicycle brakes that made the rubbing sound some times.

Is this normal for all trailers or a characteristic of the Edges? (My M-18 is my first)

Can I have them "rebuilt' to be quieter or do they need to be serviced?

Thanks to any help, this forum has been a great help...

Depending on how long you've had your trailer, it may be time for a little maintenance. Annual brake inspection, cleaning and brake adjusting as well as clean and repack the wheel bearings. Trailer brakes are not in any way similar to bicycle brakes. Actually more like car or truck drum brakes activated by a magnet trying to attach itself to the inside surface of the brake drum. A lot of fine dust and road grit can get inside and they just need a good cleaning.
