Re: Backwards air flow

If your furnace is ported out the bottom into a floor plenum for distribution, I would guess there is a seal void between the furnace and the floor. Pull the grate off and see what you can see.

What JB said. Depending on what you find....you might want to stop by here again and tell us what you found. We can guide you through how to repair it if you would like.

Have the fantastic fans on? Maybe the basement doors open?

My fantastic fans will pull air through that vent, especially with the side door closed and all three running

ChaseB, as porthole mentioned, you will feel air coming into the rig through that vent if you have an exhaust fan running. Even more if you have a basement storage door open at the same time.
I have read of others that cover that vent in warm/hot weather when running the a/c. This is to prevent cold air loss into your basement. I haven't tried that yet but it makes sense because any time I go into my basement with the a/c running, I can really feel the temp difference in there. It's cool!
