Where should we stay in or near Natchitoches, Louisiana? Looking for resort type, if possible. Even around Toledo Bend would be good. Thank you!:D

We stayed at South Toledo Bend State Park in July. Very nice. Had site CI002. Private, no neighbors beside us, deck and a view of the lake through the trees. Hiking trail to Eagle's Nest (if you can stand the walk in the heat) and great concrete trails around the lake, nice exhibits at the visitor's center. There's a swimming beach, also. Would definitely go back again, but would NOT take Highway 171 South to Lake Charles ever again!!! Extremely rough.

We stayed at Cypress Bend Park (SRA) in March, 2010. Loved it. A view of the lake from about any site, as sites are terraced up the hill. They were working to improve it while we were there, adding concrete pads to additional sites. Lots of fisherman and there is a swimming beach. FHU, 50 amp, laundry facilities. Our Verizon Mi-Fi wireless connection was a little slow, but workable. Good restaurants (say seafood) within 5 - 15 miles. Beautiful country.
