lug nut torque specifications

The owners manual specifies 120 ft. pounds of torque. Is it the same for both steel and aluminum wheels?
I have aluminum , so if it's different, what should it be?

Thanks

120 pounds is correct if you have the standard 1/2 in stud bolts. Steel or aluminum. Follow the correct torque/tightening pattern and you will be good.

120 for the 9-16" with aluminum too.

I torque my 9/16 to 150#, same as on the truck. Ford says 150-160 so I check them all and run them up to 150+

When I used 120 for a short while several of them worked loose. Some coaches start at 120 and go to 140 for the 9/16 lugs. Ford has higher recommended torque settings than SOB.

Also should check torque at 50 and 500 miles.

That is probably the most important thing you can do when you have had a wheel loose. Saved us more than once from having a disaster. The Alloy/Aluminum wheels are way worse working loose than steel wheels are. Great advice.
