View Full Version : Zapping Light Bulbs

I'm having an issue with the light bulb at the office desk burning out at least every few weeks. Have not taken the time yet to put a volt meter on it.......anybody experienced this problem?

Could it be an issue with the power supply not regulating the voltage?

Only one light is having the problem.

Since it's only the one bulb/fixture affected, I would think a loose wire or switch contact might be the problem. If it were the power supply or converter, all 12 volt accessories would be affected. Just my thoughts.

I concur with Ray's thoughts. One other thing, if this is an incandescent light, make sure that the right wattage bulb is being used. A higher wattage bulb will run hotter and may fail prematurely.

If the fixture and wiring check out OK (only 2 screws to remove it), try using 1141LL bulbs instead of the 1141's. They supposedly have twice the life expectancy (2000 hours vs. 1000), at the same 18 watts. I had several of the original 1141's burn out last year (early in the first summer we had it). So far, the 1141LL's have not failed with even more use.

Thanks for the input, I'll check these things out today.
