Burnt Kitchen Light Switch

I noticed yesterday that the kitchen light switch has burn marks on the sides of the toggle. I noticed this because the switch has gotten harder to operate. Attached are pictures of the switch. The lights in the kitchen still work and no breakers have been tripped. We also use a Superguard surge suppressor which shows no sign of damage. What so I need to do with this situation.

The pictures didn't seem to make it. If it is a 12 volt switch I don't think the Superguard would monitor that. I would replace the switch after I tested the wires for correct voltage.

Replace the switch. Looks like you have a bad switch and it is arcing or overheating due to poor contact.
