Power for the Propane Leak Detector

Can you tell me how the propane leak detector is supposed to be wired?
Mine appears to be wired through the Propane Water Heater switch. We found this out today when the alarm started going off. When I turned the Water heater switch off, the alarm quit. That just doesn't seem right to me because now it's not monitoring the furnace, the stove or the refrigerator.
It also appears that the detector is faulty because I haven't been able to find any leaks anyplace.

I've found the problem. The 10 amp fuse for the monitor panel/TV amplifier was blown. When I replaced it everything went back to normal. My water heater started heating with gas, the leak detector quit beeping. Not knowing how it's wired I can't guess what's wrong but there must be what is called a sneak circuit there.

I believe what was happening was that current was "backfeeding" through the LED light in the fuse panel causing items on that circuit to operate erratically. Its amazing what a little low voltage can do, even to 12v!! Its really only that particular circuit that will do that. The LP detector is the most voltage sensitive item in the unit, in that respect.

Yes, I assume the same thing. It would be nice to have a wiring diagram to determine what's going on.
The 10 amp fuse wasn't the problem. It worked for a while because there was no call for heat. As soon as the water cooled off and the heater called for heat, the fuse blew again. I pulled the coil wires off of the propane valve and tried it again. The fuse didn't blow and the spark ignition tired to start the fire. I then measured the coils and found one of them shorted 0.9 ohms). I replaced the valve and I'm back in business.
