If you use your campfire to cook, here are two tips in how to clean your pots and pans:

Before using: Make a soapy paste and coat the outside of the pot or pan prior to use on the fire. The soot can be easily removed at cleanup time.

After: If you forgot to use the soap method above, soak the outside pot in OxiClean. Much easier than using a lot of "elbow grease".

P.S. OxiClean works great to clean the metal air filter on the hood over your stove.

We use cast iron for most of our outside cooking, they are easy to clean.
Usually we use a camp stove or BBQ, especially when dry camping........also when dry camping, we wash all dishes outside.
We use 5 gal bottles with hand pumps, saves on average 5 gals a day.
By using the jugs we can make the "tank" water last 14+ days, saves having to transfer h2o and having to drink the filterd, chlorinated tank water.................
