Day/Night shade repair or replace information

Dave and Julia
We have had 3 of the day/night shades break "strings" over the past couple of month on our '09 Big Horn 3670. Is there any information for replacement of these units when they fail? Can this replacement be done without removing the valance and side boxes? Where can these replacement shades be ordered?

Here is another jpeg of the blind string routing. Once you restring, adjust the tension so that the upper section stays put while moving the lower section. Too tight and the cords will fray and break again. Depending on which shade you are repairing, they are not normally mounted per tha manufacturers instructions. Heartland screws the shade header either to the window frame or into the wall above it. In doing this, sometimes the screw binds the spring that connects the 2 cords inside the header. So when you re-attach the header, make sure the cords are free and move side to side.

BTW: A friend recently did one with fishing line. He used 60 lbs but felt that 80 lbs would be better. So far the blind is working well.

I found some bowfishing line at Academy Sports. Braided 80# test. It was a little lighter in color but worked great.
