Why 2000 lb axles instead of 3500?

Hi thebbqguy,

The GVWR is 4395#, and you will have part of that weight on the hitch... so 2....2000 lb axles should be more than enough for the unit.

Jimtoo,

Your response brought a question to my mind. Is the GVWR the weight attached to the truck or the weight not attached.

The reason I ask this is when we went through RVSEF we were told we were overweight, 16200 lbs. This was attached to the truck. They added the trailer weight and the pin weight together.

When we went to Morryde we had ordered an 8000 lb system and were told we didn't need it, we had plenty of room for more weight with a 7000 lb system. They used the weight with us attached to the truck(around 12000 lb).

We don't have a towing problem, we tow with a MDT.

If we were in an accident what random number would insurance use, if any.
