Front Hitch on Ford F250

For John and others who've asked to see our 2" front hitch receiver we use for our bikes. For additional stability on the road i use a ratcheting tie down strap that goes around the vertical post of the bike rack and attaches to the tow hooks on the front bumper.

There was no drilling as apparently Ford anticpates this installation and the receiver simply bolts on using existing holes.

I've seen a hitch on e-trailer.com for Chevy HD's that will install in a similar way, and costs under $150. Thanks for sharing your pics, looks great!

the nice thing about this rig is that you can also buy a "goal post" attachment to hold the front end of canoes or kayak's above the hood and still have the bike rack. Its a simple 2" receiver that mounts to the hitch and allows the bike rack to mount through it as well. the back end of the canoes or kayaks rests on top of the truck on a simple removable foam bar. plenty of room to clear the front of the 5ver. dont' have the kayaks yet but on the "wish list".
