Anyone have recommendation(s) for Flagstaff area? Going to be there several days to play some golf prior to moving to the GC area prior to moving to Priest Gulch, Co. Great summer trip planned; however, no idea where to stay in Flagstaff area. Thank you in advance!

There are several campgrounds in the area as it is not too far from GC. Google Flagstaff campgrounds and you will see them.

Several years ago we stayed a few nites at J & H RV Park outside of town on Rt. 89. We liked it and there's a decent restaurant nearby , The Horseman Lodge. As I recall we were there in late April and saw a dusting of snow.

We stayed in March at Black Barts campground right off of I40 in Flagstaff. Kind of a dumpy little campground, but cheap, quiet and very convenient to almost everything. There is a good steakhouse on the premises with singing waiters that's good for a fun evening. Also close by are the cliff dwellings at Walnut Canyon. Allow several hours as there is a good climb to see them, but it's very interesting and worth the stop.

Stay at the campground at the Grand Canyon. Stayed several nights this past summer. It would be a good idea to make reservations now if you know the dates you will be arriving.

We do have reservations already at the Xanterra RV park on the south rim. We were just thinking someone would have info on where to stay in Sedona or Flagstaff, but we don't mind taking a chance. We just want a few days to play golf, relax, and sight-see. Thank you all for the information! Maybe we will see you on the road some day!

We spent a week at Rancho Sedona several years ago. We found it very nice and friendly. We were able to make many side trips from the park. Found it to be a good location for us. We ended up taking 10E from their due to the Ice and snow storms along 40E at that time.

I agree with the choice of staying at the Grand Canyon South Rim National Park campground. (There is also a prvate campground right next door.)
My second choice in the Sedona area is Dead Horse State Park Campground in Cottonwood.(19 miles south of Sedona). Much quieter and less crowded than Sedona.

WE went to Sedona we stayed at Rancho it was very nice and real close to town. If you are in the area be sure to go to Oak Creek canyon better known as Slide Rock State Park beautiful place and you can swim in it if you can stand it cause it's cold!! Wear old clothes because all it is is a rock that is slick. The hole area that has water in it is slick don't try stand in the water or you will fall!!

Don't forget to check out the Camp Verde area not too far from Sedona. There are several great campgrounds in that area including a Thousand Trails Verde Valley preserve.
