Bad brakes on new camper

When we took delivery of our new 2010 27 bhs last August, we noticed that one of the tires was flat spotted. That is a patch of tread ground off. The dealer replaced the tire and checked the brake on that wheel and said we were OK. As very first time RVers we were satisfied and took off on a 10,000 mile trip around the country. At our first 8,000 foot pass we checked the trailer brakes and the only one that was warm was the one which had flat spotted the tire. We concluded that the brakes needed adjustment. At the completion of the trip we took the trailer in for warranty service and told them to adjust the brakes. When they took the brakes appart they found that the grease seals on the other three wheels had been blown out and the brakes were full of grease. The brakes were completely replaced under warranty.

There are several issues that come out of this experience. However the main one is that we had only one fuctioning brake on the 4 trailer wheels. Fortunately we never had any problems, but that's just good luck. The lesson is that even on a brand new unit things can happen, even on something as critiacal as the brakes.

Sorry about your issue but certainly glad there was no accidents or injuries. Sounds like someone may have greased the ez-lube axles improperly. It is a common problem to blow the seals doing so! Just a guess!

Best Wishes!
