It just now got warm enough to run the a/c for any length of time, and it is acting a little strange. It "skips" every so often, hesitates as though it is going to go off, then begins running again. Does this sound OK?

Sounds like your thermostat needs attention. Don't sound right to me.

Not saying it's ok, but ours also sometimes does this. Seems odd to me. But it's intermittent, which makes it difficult to demonstrate to a service person. If it's a known problem, I'd love to hear about what people have done to correct it.

If you don't have a digital thermostat I would make that upgrade and see if it makes any difference.

Ours is changing fan speeds when it does that, you can take it off of auto and put it on hi or low, then it should run all the time. I think when it gets within one degree of your temp. Setting, it changes to low, if it gets too warm it goes back to high
