How do you transport a canoe?

I am towing a North Trail 21fbs with a Dodge 1500 QuadCab PU with a Leer Cap on the bed. I will be purchasing an old town canoe tomorrow that is 14'6" and weighs 79 pounds. I would appreciate any advice on how to carry it when traveling and any products you might have experience with.
Thanks

Reese & Weston make a version of the goalpost that rotates at the top to make loading "easier". Set one end of the canoe on it from the side and then rotate the canoe around to the top of your truck. Fewer chances for scratching your truck shell/cap.

Depending on how the front receiver hitch is installed, you may need to be careful. I have one and hit quite a few curbs while parking. It's a jolting experience.
