Turn off your water pump

Just a reminder to turn off your water pump when on the road - especially a bad road. We are in Alaska and just drove the Top of the World Highway from Tok to Dawson City on Wednesday in the rain and mud!! We forgot to make sure the water pump was off. On the drive the kitchen faucet handle on our Rushmore jiggled on, the faucet turned so it faced the floor and you know the rest. When we got to the ferry at Dawson City we saw water running out the underbelly and heard the pump running. Went inside to see the mini flood, carpet wet all around the kitchen area. With the help of a fellow caravaner who had a small wet vac and fans we were able to dry out. Now before we hit the road we make sure it is off and even drain the last little bit of water out of the faucet.

Been there done that. We always turn off the pump, but not once. Our spout did not turn, but we had both sinks covers on. We now have a thick, 1 inch thick, rubber band that we use on the handle to the spout just in case and no sink cover. Called Heartland, they sent another faucet, which I installed, but the problem is still there. I see on the new units they have a different style faucet.
