15 of the 20 reserved sites have been reserved. There are more than 20 sites available, so please do not hesitate to call Country Roads and talk to Terri Lynn, 608- 253-2132. Check the Event Generator on the right side of the Portal page to see who is attending. I will list the names of those that made reservations. Planning is easier when you know the number attending early in the process. A big thank you to all for you help and support :)

I looked on Country Roads Motorhome & RV Park's Website and it seems they don't really want kids there. Would it be best to find a sitter for the kids this time and just Mindy and I stop up? We are going to try to make the 9/13 rally in Lena, IL and plan to bring the kids to that one. Do many people bring their kids to these or is it more of an adult thing?

Jim,

I have a storage and weight issue. I just don't want to get rid of anything in order to be able to store an HD dish, nice tripod, weights etc. Then buy a Bird Dog or other dish aiming aid. 95% of the time, I'm able to get a site at CGs that work with the dish. It's at rallies that are a bit harder as we don't have access to all the inventory there.

No worries though, we'll have plenty of fun at the rally. And we'll just go over to cookie's site to watch TV at night. Hope Mary is okay with my house coat :)

I was talking about the Wineguard Carryout 1518. It is very light, sets up easy and finds the satellite automatically. It does take up some storage space though. The price has been recently reduced. I got mine here http://tweetys.com/winegard-gm-1518-satellite.aspx

That is pretty small Jim. No HD programming for Direct TV on it though. Wonder if there's another model or maybe another brand that has a small carry-out style that will pickup Direct TV HD programming?

I really don't miss the HD on the road as the Sony TV we have has such a great picture. I would rather have tv without HD than no TV at all. Before getting the portable dish we were at a park for 2 weeks under trees and the roof dish would not work and the antenna would only pick up 1 channel sometimes late at night. We listened to the radio alot. Brought back memories of when Sheila and I were first married and didn't have any television. We were glad to have the weather radio though/

Jim will have to do what we did when I had no over the air TV in Tracy, CA, Teton National Park, and Yellowstone National Park.I played the radio and talked to dear wife, Gerry. It was a fun time. Listening to the radio, playing cards and good conversation. :)

No worries though, we'll have plenty of fun at the rally. And we'll just go over to cookie's site to watch TV at night. Hope Mary is okay with my house coat :)
I'm okay with that as long as you wear the nice pink fuzzy one that Nancy said you have. And don't forget the big fuzzy slippers with the ears.

There's homemade pizza for you if we can get some nice pics of you in your pretty pink house coat and fuzzy slippers with ears! I may even be willing to make 2 pizzas if you're willing.

We have arrived! Got here mid-afternoon. Setup then hung out with those that were already here. Went to dinner at the Brat House with MikeM/spouse and Lou/Bette Dick. The brats were great! Tiny black bugs are a little nuts outside, so we're inside with the TV and laptop on this evening.

Guilty for holding Bernie and others up this morning - shootin' the bull. We missed every time though :)

Spent a couple hours with Lou Dick, toning out and marking his coax cables in his Road Warrior ahead of him connecting his Winegard Carryout Dish up to the coach.

Oregon wishes you a happy rally! We just had a great one ourselves.

Be careful shooting those bulls. They make a big mess when you hit them and it doesn't smell very good either.;)

Kristy

PS I wish we were at a rally instead of sitting here without our RV while waiting for the new one to arrive.

We, we had a great pre-rally potluck breakfast this morning. Most of the rally group did attend. We had a real nice variety of foods. Thanks everyone - it was great to get together.

Looking forward to the Meet and Greet / Potluck Snacks at 2pm today!

Have a good time guys!

Had quite the rain storm last night. No awnings lost that I heard of.

The breakfast potluck was a success (mentioned in a previous post).

RVers hanging out with RVers today at the rally.

I helped Michael Barnett install 2 sets of double switches to move 4 lights switches out of the cabinet and onto the outside end of the cabinet. No more light switch roulette in the middle of the night for them :)

Helped Lou Dick with his new satellite receiver for a bit. He bought some RG-6 compression fittings so I replaced another 5 of so "iffy" ones on his coach.

We held the 2pm Meet and Greet snackfest today. Good eats. Tom had everyone introduce themselves. Great to see a lot of friends and make some new ones today. I had a chance to tell rally attendees a bit about how we have formalized the Central Region now and the Jay and Stella are the Regional Directors. Let everyone know that Jay hopes to host IA and IN rallies next year to get Heartlanders in those states back together and meeting again. Hopefully some chapter leaders will emerge from those rallies :)

Tom was able to arrange with Scenic RV, a nearby Heartland dealer to have 2 techs stop by for a half day. They helped Heartlanders out where they could.

Dinner on our own tonight. Considering an ice cream run. Maybe find a campfire? :)

Greetings. As you can tell from Jim's comments the rally is off to a great start. It is great to have heartlanders from AL, MS, MO, MN, MI, PA, IA. IL,TN. Thank you for joining us in beautiful WI Dells. Tomorrow Nancy B, site 9, has scheduled a Mary Kay Open House scheduled from 12:30 - 2:30. Stop by to see the Mary Kay products and enjoy some refreshments. Scenic RV, one of our rally sponsors, has a new Elkridge RV open for viewing behind the store. Be sure to stop and take a look and this neat unit. Port Huron Brewery will be joining us at 3:00 for a beer tasting. Port Huron is a new micro brewer located in WI Dells. The evening meal is on your own, and look for a bonfire behind the store in the evening. There weather looks to be great so enjoy the day taking in the sites and sounds of the WI Dells area. Happy Friday to all.

The North Trail here is right behind us. Great people! Yes, we need more :) Wish you guys could have at least stopped by this rally to hang out, but I understand you have a schedule to keep.

Did a fun project with your Dad today. Always fun helping buddies with projects. Heaven knows many of them have helped me with mine :)

Can anyone even see the NT behind your beautiful rig?

Thanks for helping my Dad, I am sure your help allowed the project to be completed in one day. Typically his perfection and procrastination gets the best of him :p

Of course :) Actually, the NT owners place is a popular hang-out place. Plus, Emme likes visiting as the Mrs there carries tiny doggy treats in her pocket.

Well, another great day at the rally.

Spent some time cleaning the inside of the RV today. Nancy had a Mary Kay open house - so had to get it spiffy :)

Spent some time helping another Heartlander with some TV issues.

Had lunch with Alf (Paul A). We watched a cat fly by the RV dragging its leash while we were eating at the picnic table. It got spooked and got loose. It was found fast and safe.

Port Huron Brewing came by at 3pm and gave us a primer on brewing and let us sample 3 different kinds of their brew.

25 of us saddled up and headed north to nearby Lyndon Station, WI to have take in a WI Fish Fry at Beagles. Nice time spent with friends.

Back at the campground, we had a campfire that was pretty well attended. 3 or 4 of us diehards finally left the pit around 10:45.

Big rally day tomorrow. First thing though, a group of us are heading to Denny's Diner at 9am for breakfast. This is not the chain, but a local establishment known for their cinnamon rolls. Hoping to leave room to try one :)

Lin & I spent the day at the rally site and had a great time. Suzi got loads of attention too. I was able to help Alf sample some of the Italian sausage he was preparing for the pot luck too. Yum!
Thanks for a great pot luck and a nice evening at the ski show. We're back in our sticks and vinyl after a short ride home.
What a great bunch of Heartlanders.

My final update on the WI rally...

Saturday was great. 14 of us went to breakfast at Denny's Diner. Food was "ok", company was "great"!

Fawn Creek Winery came to the CG and put on a great Wine Tasting in the afternoon.

About 7:30 pm, 49 of us caravanned to town to see the night time Tony Bartlett Show. Wow - what a show. Got my $18 worth!

This morning, we got together for a continental breakfast under the pavilion. Many goodbyes and hugs.

Nancy and I left around 10:30, following Dan and Karen H (herbiesrig) up to their place in the U.P. of MI.

Great rally Tom and Gerry Weber!!!

Nancy and I will see those who are traveling onto the MI rally in Hopkins. We'll roll in mid-afternoon Wednesday.

Yipee! Made it home this afternoon after a couple of stops. Kath slept most of the way so I thought it would only be fair if I took a short nap on the way home at a rest stop. Perfect day for a nice drive. If you missed it this was the greatest Rally yet. Still have some of that delicious pickled balogna left for those of you that didn't get a chance to enjoy it. I'll be sure to bring it along to the next round-up. Thanks to everybody for a wonderful time! We made our reservations for next year before we left. Now we just need to get an extension on our MN to WI bridge permit so we can make another successful bridge crossing. Don and Kathy Swanson
