moldy water smell

We do not use the RV during the summer. Upon hooking up again now the city water smells moldy. It does not smell moldy at the water pipe so it seems somewhere in the RV lines it may have mold. Any suggestions?

Gramupnorth, welcome to the forum.
Are you using any water filters? That's the first place I would look if you do.
How about your water hose. Is it a white potable water hose?
If neither of these ideas apply to you, try and run some bleach through the system.

Peace
Dave

We have this problem too from non-use. We found it was the hose, so now we run water through it at home, before we go camping. This eliminates the problem. Some of the campgrounds we go to down South where we live, have sulphur in the water, so we take bottled water with us when staying at those particular campgrounds. Good luck.

Fill the fresh water tank with a solution of bleach ( I would use about 2 cups of bleach) and water and flush the system. Let the bleach mix set in the lines a couple of days then flush again with fresh water.

Hydrogen peroxide (3%) works very well. No caustic soda like the bleach has so less rinsing afterwards. The bleach will work as well as the post says but you just have to do more flushing. Use one quart per 100 gallons water of peroxide. Avoid the garden hoses and some of the RV hoses are poor quality. You can tell from the taste of the water from the hose if it is worth keeping or not.
