Hi all,

We have locked in the 2009 International Heartland Owners Rally location. We’ll be back home in Elkhart County in Goshen, Indiana. The rally will be held at the 4H Fairgrounds as it was in 2006 and 2007.

This rally will also officially begin on a Thursday and end the following Sunday. Three nights of camping will be included in the rally fee.

Pre and Post rally camping will be available. Rate to be determined.

Everything else about the rally is under development. Stay tuned to this thread and later, to the rally website for details as they develop. For now, please "SAVE THE DATE" if it works for you.

Jim

PS: I closed the early rally location discussion thread in this forum so that new discussion about this rally could be contained within this new thread and other new threads, now that the date and location have been determined.

If I am still a Heartland owner, can't see any reason why I would not be, sign Judy and I up plus the same site we have now.

You're a first responder by a long shot on this one Tom. Hope I can still remember your site number 2 years from now. Actually, I now manage the rally attendees via a pretty good membership database where I store rally attendance and site numbers.

See you in a couple days.

It is planned that all 2007 rally returnees to the 2009 rally in Goshen will be offered their same sites before the full rally registration is opened up. So be checking your email sometime in March of 2009!

We are back in Goshen and waiting for everyone to show up for the 2009 rally., In the mean time all of us still in Elkhart and Goshen that are left over from the 2007 rally will be having a pot luck dinner at Capitol RV. Karen is still in charge so it will be a success.

AS A PARENT WITH 5 CHILDREN, I FIND IT DIFFICULT TO ATTEND BECAUSE YOU SCHEDULE IT ON FATHERS DAY WEEKEND. cOULD WE CONSIDER MOVING UP OR BACK ONE WEEK?

Cheryl
08-03-2007, 07:38 PM
Father's Day is June 21st in 2009.
http://www.apples4theteacher.com/holidays/fathers-day/when-is-fathers-day.html
Besides, moving it to the weekend earlier would put it right at the end of the year for most school systems. Moving to then would mean the kids would miss the last few days of school.

Thanks for the update Cheryl. I was going to look it up but you did it for us. I know that a lot of people had input into the date selection for the upcoming rallys, and I was sure that this was one of things that was looked at.

Enjoy your summer,

WA-HOO!! Only 343 days until June 11th, 2009!!!

:p;):o:rolleyes:

OH, NO...That's our anniversary! At least I have 343 days to find an appropriate gift.

Do you think an Owner's Plaque from PLAK-R on a nice silver chain would do? What could be more appropriate?

How 'bout it; a little "Bling" for my "Darling"?! :D:D

Better not. It could be the first public execution in Heartland History!!

Sandy and Tom,

Definitely bring Buddy Bear. The only thing I can say is he must be a nocturnal bear. He never moved at all during the day but at night he seemed to dress himself differently each and everyday without anyone seeing him do it. Gotta stay up all night at next years rally to catch him on camera.

Hi all,

It is my "plan" to open registration around the 1st of the year. I plan to have a registration window first for registered members of the Heartland Owners Club. It will be a 30 to 60 day window. Then registration will be open to all Heartland Owners.

Formal membership to the Heartland Owners Club will open up around October 1st.

Thanks,

In your 08 AUG 08 thread you indicated you'd open registration for the Goshen rally after the first of the year for Heartland Club members. How close is that to happening or have I missed the invite to register? We plan to attend and it will be our first rally as well. Hope the party is as good as the one in Branson sounded. Hi Michael and Evans,

I am not signing anyone up. Each sign's himself up :)

Actually, we have one day left in the Club Member exclusive registration window.

On February 1st, rally registration will be opened to all Heartland owners.

Bear in mind too that Club Members, no matter when they sign-up, will receive a $25 discount on their rally registration.

If you are considering of joining the Heartland Owners Club and have yet to do so, please consider doing so now. Here's the link (//heartlandowners.org/vbMemberManager.php). The cost is $60 for a 3-year membership. For more information about Club Benefits etc., click here (//heartlandowners.org/club).

Those who attended the 2007 rally in Goshen will be given an opportunity to have the same site. I can offer this for a short period of time - say through the month of February.

Thanks,

Called the Fairgrounds yesterday and got my site, 402, starting on June 8 to the 15th. This is the same site I had in 07. I also signed up Seamo, Bob & Christina Seaman, for site 401 the site George & Lindsey had in 07 but no longer HL owners due to health reasons.

davebennington
04-12-2009, 03:58 PM
Tmcran,

I think all of the sites are back in. You might also want to have extra sewer hose, water hose and electric line as all of the hookups are at the very back of the pad. Some folks had a difficult time when they did not have these extras, but I do understand there is a camping supply store not to far away.

Dave

jbeletti
04-12-2009, 07:45 PM
tmcran,

As Dave mentioned - they are all back-ins and are all full-hookups. All the hookups are in the rear of each site - behind the RV. You will need enough water/sewer hose and power cord to reach about 4 or more feet past the end of your RV.

Hope you decide to join us :)

Here's an excerpt from the venue tab on the rally registration site:

Our Area (http://www.regonline.com/builder/site/tab2.aspx?EventID=691185)
Most of our sites are in the newest camping area - the NW Section. All sites are 50 amp full-hookup back-ins. There are no pull-throughs. All hookups are at the rear of each site. You may need up to 30 feet of water hose and 25 feet of sewer hose. In rare instances, depending where the power connection is on your coach, you may need more than your 25 foot shore power cable.

Hi gang,

Just wanted to let you know that I have assigned rally sites to all who were unassigned through today (19-April).

I also added camp site maps too, so people would have a sense of where they will be on the Fairgrounds property in relation to everyone else and in relation to our rally hall, the ECC building.

Here is a link to the Site Assignments and Maps thread (//heartlandowners.org/showthread.php?t=8629). That thread is read-only. Please circle back to this main rally discussion thread to discuss or to ask me a question. Of course, I am always available vie PM and email (email preferred :)

Hi Neal,

Some cost items for the rally are fixed. But many cost aspects of the rally have "per person" costs associated with them. Some examples are:

Meals (on-site, off-site and catered meals)
Rally T-shirts
Rally ID Badges
Bus Transportation
Tour (RV/MH Hall of Fame/Museum)
Rental of tables/chairs
Table Service

As such, there is a $50 per person fee beyond 2 people and a rig. Only you will be able to determine the value of the rally to your family vs. the cost.

We hope to see you there.

Thanks,

Jim

Neal,
When all things are considered, 3-nights camping with full hookup, 50 amp service, many meals, entertainment, seminars, bus rentals for factory tours and the such, great chance to mingle with so many wonderful people and learning as much as you want about all of our rigs, it is really well worth the costs. You will like it alot, honest. The very first Heartland Rally was my first rally ever and it was a blast.

What ages are your kids? My girl is 15 and my boy is 13 and will both be there.

Sounds great.. We will hold a spot for you. What all are you having done?

We can show off our new IS and DB with the others that have had it done. BTW.. How many have replaced their axles with the IS system."

Alright this is terrible...a whole week and no Rally chatter.. this is a disgrace.

We have just over 4 weeks until we get to meet each other. What a blast this will be. We didn't think we were going to get to attend the rally and the good Lord put Pat in the hospital and delayed us for 4 weeks so all you hard heads get to meet us.

Lets start a little bit of chatter..

First... I would like to suggest that everyone that is going to the Rally put in their signature the site number they are going to be staying in. I know it is already in the list. But while we are posting in different threads we can see who all is going to be in the rally and get a bit more enthusiam going. Now if I could only spell enthusiasm.

Bob
we are going to be back to back with you and Pat and Jay and Stella are next to us and Ray and Lin are two trailers down. I'm going to bring my 30 cup coffee pot with us, will have it out every morning. We can pick up on our visiting like we did in Houston. We are going to arrive Monday the 8th and leave early Tuesday the 16th and go to RV Capitol to have a fireplace heater installed. Ornell has wanted the fireplace since we bought the trailer.

Okay, BC, I will add our site number to our signature only if you promise to bring J.D. and I some of your wonderful breakfast burritos every morning of the rally - well maybe just one morning. :-)

OK Bob - you pot stirrer :) Actually, this is a good pot to stir. Thank you :D

I second Bob's burritos CJ!

Hey Bob - I just updated my HOP pin from Texas to home here in Streamwood, IL.

Bill - a fireplace - cool. Neat option - we love ours.

I can give everyone a few rally updates:

Custom Work (non-repair):
If anyone is wanting any custom work done to their coach while in town for the rally, I know a crew that has time. RV Capital Service Center is going to be slammed with business and in the event they are busy on coach repairs and someone wants some custom stuff done - this could be done elsewhere. Send me an email if anyone has an interest in this
Food Planning:
I have constituted a Food Planning Team led by Karen Young. We have been corresponding all week by email and the team have a conference call on Wednesday. We have several on-site and off-site meals. Some catered, some at restaurants and others potluck etc. Lot of stuff to coordinate and shopping to be done.
Presentations/Seminars:
I have been working on two full days of seminars and presentations. Friday will be Heartland suppliers presenting on user, care and maintenance. Thursday will be one or two Heartland suppliers and several other items (GPS, Forum, Chat etc.).
Other Meetings being Planned:
I am planning the following meetings: Chapter Leader meeting, Chapter Members Meetings/Want-To-Be Chapter meeting, Forum Moderator meeting, Ladies Handicrafts meeting. Anyone looking for anything else?
Heartland Marketplace:
I have hand-selected about 10 or so vendors to be in our Heartland Marketplace during the rally with 2 full selling days, Thursday and Friday. They will be located in our rally hall, the ECCC building in 1 section of it.
Agenda:
Now that I nearly have my presentation schedule complete, I will begin laying out the agenda in Publisher and getitng it ready to send to the printer.
Single Page Inserts:
I have many, many single page inserts that will be part of each rally packet. I am them all now and getting them ready to go to the printer.
Door Prizes:
I have had fun the last two months, shopping for door prizes. More shopping and cataloging to do on this.
Arranging of stuff:
All the big items that need to be arranged for, rented, booked etc. have been done. thinks like caterers, rental companies, entertainment, buses, golf carts, restaurants etc.
Signage:
I just remembered this one  I want to have some ground signs guiding people in and around the Fairgrounds. Hope I can get to this :o
Rally Service:
This is a big thing to organize. Thankfully, I have great help. Michael Kidd created an online service request process for me - similar to what I used before (html based). Michael did it in PHP within the confines of the forum. Chuck Batcke (cbmidland) is reprising his role as data collector and analyst. He receives, logs and tracks the data once a person submits their request. He analyzes it for conformity to guidance Heartland Customer Service has given him and he gives Customer Service and myself weekly updates. Heartland Production and Customer Service has a huge role in all of this too. Customer Service will be doing all the scheduling and Production workers will be doing the actual service. RV Capital Service Center may have a couple of service personnel on-site to handle overflow.

Bill,

Do you deliver coffee??? and feel free to stop by and get some of those burritos. Site 402 if you need directions let me know. I know that 401 and 403 will need coffee also. We will probably be in Elkhart on June 1, Heartland is going to look at the coach and June 4 Lippert suppose to do some work onmy jacks. If everything gets done early enough I may try and squeeze into the MS rally at the fairgrounds.

Jim,

That's what I did in 2007 and I lost weight at that rally. That would be the only rally I lost weight at. If I look at it on a per rally basis, I'd say I have gained 4 pounds per rally I have attended since starting with Heartland 14 months ago

Wow that is a beauty.. A little beyond my means. I have talked to those that have a HDT and they are saying that they can get a HDT for less than my F250. About 17k.. Heard that many times...

Guess I wil have to wait.

jbeletti
05-15-2009, 09:26 PM
I've heard that too Bob. A truck at that price will take some money to convert it to a toter and do some updating (tires, brakes, possibly minor engine and body work). But still - all in, yeah, less than a new dually. Just ask Bob and Christina :)

Tom of Ypsi
05-15-2009, 09:45 PM
I looked for a HDT, talked to several people, e-mailed several people and looked at a few but could never convince Judy we needed one. There are a bunch of trucks out their right now looking for a new home. If serious talk to an owner pulling a 5th wheel, most will be more than glad to talk to you or go to the Escapees forum and scroll down to the HDT threads.

Fair Grounds at Goshen is getting all spruced up, fresh flowers planted around the several buildings, Grass is neatly trimmed as well. Rain is due in this weekend to give the whole place a nice rinse down so it'll be fresh for the Heartland Family Rally !!!

I count 5 Heartland Owners as of Friday evening (6/5/09) already a few here... but we're being good, patiently waiting for (SOB's) Rally comes slowly to an end. They will be moving out by Monday. I know there are others who are not far away... and will be soon heading toward Goshen as well.

Hey Gang.... We'll keep a Light on for ya... Careful on the road to Goshen...

For the life of me I can't see why so many people enjoy getting their dinner thrown at them. We have a Lamberts close to us, only went the once, I was so emarresed my daughter who was 11 / 12 at the time kept ducking when the roll was thrown at her and poor guy behind her kept getting hit on the head. I am sure he was not a happy camper.

I know this is a double post but I wanted those that are here to know that they can get food poisoning, Uh… a great breakfast tomorrow morning..

For those that are interested, Jim Beletti told me if I did not make my famous breakfast burrito, I would have to move to the other side of the tracks. So for those that are here tomorrow morning, I will be preparing a breakfast burrito for those that wish to come by. I plan to stop serving around 9am. KKAMSHOP (Kathy and Ken) will be helping me prepare and serve. Please bring what you wish to drink.

Thanks also to Rick and Blanca for pancakes outside their place today.

I also had two dinners tonight. Mexican potluck hosted by Rick and Blanca and Italian hosted by Evans and Lana. And cocktails and appetizers by Al and Donna.

Too much fun!

Wow,,, we never even made it past Rick and Blanca's Mexican pot luck...AAww somme food...

Just set around,,,visiting, talking. Heartland people are the best. What a great way to start a rally.

The Heartland service people have been around and all over, repairing and fixing the little things, and some big things, where they could.

Lippert folks came by, retorqued all the axle U bolts, checked the torque on the pin boxes, inspected the springs and took some measurements also to make sure things were like they were supposed to be.

Thanks to Heartland and Lippert for your service.

Well it is the start of the rally.
Anyone who is not here has already lost all around. Good Food, good company, and tweeking up many of the pesky problems with the coaches.

Heartland had done a great job here. Much more than I expected. Lippert came by and checked out all the coaches and as Jim said made sure everything was nice and tight.

Keep watch here and see what you missed. I will have some pictures posted later..
