Space above bedroom door on 3450TS

I think this is a design flaw. Because bedrooms are higher in 5th wheels, and heat rises, it seems it would be hard to cool the bedroom.
In the 3450TS the bedroom door is attached to the long bedroom slide. Therefore you cannot completely seal off the bedroom form the living area when the door is shut. However, if the door were a little higher, a weather strip could be affixed to the top of the door to seal it. You would also have to have a rubber piece that would insert over the slide (at the door opening) when it is out to complete the seal.

Anyone else notice an issue cooling the bedroom so it's cooler than the coach for sleeping?

We have a 3670 with the same issue, a large gap top and bottom of the door. Not sure why the large gaps. Maybe a heartland rep will resPond.

Hello!

We also have a 3450TS and although have noticed the gap never really gave it much concern. We spend many nights in Winthrop/Twisp during the summer and the room can get warm but nothing an open vent and fan hasn't fixed to date. Do you have a bedroom AC? We do not but have considered adding one.

Also...I sent you a PM inviting you to consider joining our WA Chapter of the Heartland Owners Club. I have just begun soliciting members for suggestions regarding our 2012 Rally. HERE are some highlights of the 2011 Rally.

Best Wishes!

Fact is that cool or warm air must circulate for efficiency. Circulation is part of the reason for gaps.

Do a search for the "tent in a vent" modification. It's a simple addition that will greatly increase the pressure through the A/C vents in the bedroom. Took a little experimenting but it worked well in ours..Don

Not sure but THIS may be the thread GOTTOYS is referring to.

There are gaps at floor level in the Bathroom doors leading to the bedroom , that should provide adequate circulation. The gap above the bedroom door is very large. Have you ever camped in Phoenix or Palm Springs. It's imperative to get as much cooling in the bedroom as possible.

Your other models don't have this large space at the top of door. What about their circulation?

It depends on what you call a large gap. The gap above our door is 3".
It sounds like you may need a second AC when camping in the heat of Phoenix or Palm Springs.

We don't have an air conditioning problem. We have the problem on a normal evening.
Heat rises. If there is a gap ogf any size above the door, say more than a quarter inch, then warm air from living area get's in bedroom.

When watching TV at night we like it fairly warm, say 70-72%. But when it's time to retire we like the bedroom cool. This isn't possible with this door......

Hey Bill,,, maybe you could hang a heavy duty curtain from the ceiling above the door, cut to just touch the top of door or hang over a bit. Then hang more from the bottom of the door to seal it to the floor. This would help isolate the bedroom from the rest of the unit.

My first RV was in 1971 and the doors were the same then as they are now. Gaps at the top and bottom of the doors. It is something that all manufactures do for air circulation and even heating and cooling. You could also get a second A/C for the bedroom only and that will really cool it down.
