After PM’ing the Washington State Heartland Owners Club members and over 700 Heartland Forum members, we have made some decisions about the 2012 WA Chapter Rally.

Survey responses were very “one-sided” with little doubt of destination and dates. The 2012 Rally will be in Twisp. WA. July 20 & 21. To those who have conflicts on these dates I apologize. It is never easy to pick dates where every member/camper is available. Over 70% of survey responders favored this particular weekend regardless of the destination.

Riverbend RV Park is situated on the beautiful banks of the Methow River. Located just 6 miles south of the town of Winthrop and 2 miles north of Twisp, it is centrally located to everything the valley has to offer. The park has full-service hookups with 20/30/50 amp power. The Methow Valley has no cable TV service but you can get a few stations off the repeater with an antenna. There is free WiFi.

By chance, the Winthrop Rhythm and Blues Festival is also scheduled this same weekend. The Winthrop Blues Festival is the largest and longest running festival in the state of Washington.

So whether you prefer the festival atmosphere of live music, shopping in the old western town of Winthrop or the quiet park setting at Riverbend, I believe there is something for everyone at this year’s destination. There is even a beautiful golf course (Bear Creek) minutes away.

Reservations are now open 3/5/2012.

Best Wishes!

Confirmed Attendance Roster:

Here is the list of names Cheryl sent me on Friday June 23. We have 14 sites confirmed. Roper, Toburen, Morones, Taylor, Williams, Tullis, Herrick, Hargreaves/Moulder, Mason, Larson (3 sites), McLaughlin and Nelson.

We are fairly new campers and have not had the opportunity to travel a lot to date. We have, however, stayed at Riverbend before and are familiar with the facilities and area. HERE are some snapshots I found. (Please be kind...:))

Awesome...it will be great to see everyone again! Hope you had a great Christmas and the New Year brings much joy! It has been raining here for weeks. I have been trying to get a front cap leak stopped but so far no luck! Today I will try to Eternabond the top seam (which I re-caulked this past summer) if I can get it dry enough!

Best Wishes!

Hi Steve and Analyn,

Rick and I joined this forum shortly before the rally last year. Due to previous plans we couldn't make it but wanted to see about attending this year in Twisp. I was wondering though, how do we get on your list of messages (pm's or otherwise)? I'm not sure if we are appropriately signed up so we receive your communication as we haven't seen any message come through. Do they come through on our personal emails? Can you advise? This is all new to us. :)

Thanks, Joyce and Rick

Look on the portal page at the top of this page, it lists all the rallys in the country. Just click on the one you want the first post is all the details of the rally. Two tabs to the right is the owners club, there you can join the club for $70 for 3 yrs. Its a great deal with all the things you get.

Hello!

If I understand you questions correctly, maybe this will help explain...

There are two entities to deal with, the Heartland Owners Forum and the Heartland Owners Club. As Chapter Leaders of the Owners Club, AnaLyn and I have access to a master list with membership names and information. We are able to send information directly to members on this list. If you join the Heartland Owners Club, you will be added to this list and also receive a member number.

The other way we get information out is through this forum and specifically the WA State part of the Pacific Region forum. We do have access to a complete list of forum members and usually will send a "bulk" message once or twice a year for pre-event planning. We sent such a message to over 700 forum members in early December before choosing the Twisp location. Members emails often change and information is slow to update (once a year I believe). I am sorry you did not receive any of this information when it was sent.

I would like to encourage you to consider joining the Heartland Club. AnaLyn and I are relatively new to the "club" thing and we didn't really know what to expect. Club members are all so helpful and nice to deal with. In a few words, our Chapter is informal and easy going. Lots of camping experience to share, great food and conversation.

Please feel free to get back with additional questions and/or concerns. We hope to see you in Twisp if not before!

Best Wishes!

UPDATE:
I have received a few PM's recently from campers wondering if anyone is attending this rally. Please understand that Riverbend is basically closed for the season although I believe they do have spots for the snowmobilers and hunters. Twisp/Winthrop (Methow Valley) is basically under snow for a few more weeks at best. (Web Cams) Heartland campers cannot call for reservations until April or later so I cannot post a list of "for sure" campers. I can say that I have about six parties that have said they plan on attending. As soon as we get closer to Spring and Riverbend begins taking camper reservations, I will keep at running list of those with confirmed reservations. I am confident we will have a good turn out in Twisp. Keep in touch!

As Always...Best Wishes!

Hello!
Things are beginning to thaw in Twisp although there is still a lot of snow on the ground. Cheryl at Riverbend is back to work and now taking reservations for our rally in July. July 20/21 is a busy weekend in the Methow Valley so even though it is still quite early, don't wait too long to book a site! (509) 997-3500

Rates are different for the July 20 & 21 dates because of the Blues Festival in Winthrop. It will be $36 for 30 amp or $38 for 50 amp (holiday and event weekend rate) for the Friday and Saturday. Those choosing to stay Sunday night or come early will pay the usual $33 or $35 rates for those nights. Riverbend is a Good Sam park and also honors Military active and retired as well as AARP.

Keeping the favored "informal" schedule, the rally format will remain very similar to last year. AnaLyn and I will organize a "Meet n Greet" for Friday July 20th. Bring a beverage, a chair, and a light snack if you wish and meet fellow Heartlanders at our site. Saturday is open to enjoy the river, the park, sight-seeing, etc. with a Pot Luck dinner at 6:00. We are looking for someone that would like to do the Saturday "Potluck" logistics. If anyone is interested just send us an email!

If you are planning to attend the Blues Festival, don't feel obligated to return for the pot-luck. Enjoy the event! Most often during this time of year open fires are prohibited in the Methow Valley. The traditional campfire mingle may or may not be possible.

Please let us know if you have any suggestions and/or ideas to help make this a great time in the sun! We appreciate your input!

Best Wishes,

Steve and AnaLyn

Great news! We are also looking forward to meeting you both. I think we will be there on Thursday as well! Trying to avoid the Festival traffic on the North Cascades!

See you then!

Steve & Analyn, Just following this thread about your rally. That area of Twisp and Winthrop is a great area to enjoy nature.
The last time I was in Winthrop was in 1972 doing some hunting. Randy, Santha and the Poodles

Believe it or not, not much has changed since 1972...not that i spent a lot of time over there but it still is very much "under-developed" A beautiful area for sure.

Funny you mention hunting...the last time we went through the Methow Valley in an 8 mile stretch we counted 30+ deer! We are not hunters but have many friends that do. Sometimes the deer are at the river bank in the early AM at the RV park.

About time for another visit isn't it? :)

Best Wishes!

Steve,It is a little far off at this time, but we are looking at 2014 extended trip to the NW. Santha and I have relatives all over Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
Enjoy that that valley area. Last weekend we went up to Waynesville NC for an early spring campout and saw the first Elk we have seen in 35 years in Maggie Valley.
That was Saturday morning. It snowed on us Sunday morning. Reminds us of the northwest. Randy, Santha and the Poodles
