Hello all,

This may be a crazy question, but has anyone drove to Alaska as early as March w/rv?

Going up for work and hotels and vacation rentals are pretty high once you get into May, will be there until Sept.

Also has anyone stayed at Golden nugget rv park in Anchorage.

Just wieghing all my options. Thanks Lonnie

Stayed at Golden Nugget three nights in late June.... They are nice folks - facility is fine - spaces tight. Neighborhood is busy, combination residential and commercial. Anchorage was the least favorite part of our 6 month RV trip to Alaska earlier this year. We stopped in Anchorage for windshield replacement, otherwise one night would have been it.

We were in Anchorage sometime between August and September. I agree Anchorage is not a favorite of ours either, it is just another big city it also is a military town much like Fairbanks. JMHO.

At that time of the year you could run into some pretty heavy snow all the way up, so allow lots of time. Also there will not be nearly as much traffic the further north you go and some of the facilities along the way that are open in the summer may well be closed that early in the season.
