Duane,

I'm sorry about the late notice but CG issues tried to derail us. How's this for you; I started a new job and now, in order to get my vacation days, will have to gather all the humility I can muster and grovel like the big dogs!! That's gonna be a mother for me but I'll suck it up; the things I do for this group!!!! :p

Hello my friends!! Well, we just reserved our 13th site; lucky Bill & Sallie Hosack! This is shaping up to be a true melting pot of rally goers. Maryland, Massachussetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania & even little old Delaware () will be representin'!! (Shhh, I think New York is using this as a warmup to their Lake George Rally the following weekend!)

Although, with just four & a half months 'til rally time I have just one question..

Where are all my Partying Pennsylvania PEEPS?!

Jaime, Ginger & Madison can't carry the entire Commonwealth!

We've posted site numbers for the rally attendees in post #1 of this thread. We were hoping the newly planned pull-thru sites would be ready & available for the rally but....they won't be. We toured the campground last weekend and checked out the available sites and after discounting some due to site length, I think we ended up with a decent setup. The campround has also published their new facility map which incorporates their new site numbering system. The map's link is available here: Friendship Village Campground Facility Map (http://www.friendshipvillagecampground.com/default.asp?file=SiteMap).

We were also able to secure the large pavillion for our use on Saturday evening.

*** REMINDER ***

The campground will be hosting a Blood Drive in conjunction with their "Safety Day" events on Saturday. We challenge all rally participants to donate a "pint of life" as part of our Heartland Gives Back Initiative; so as a reminder......NO DISQUALIFYING TATTOOS NOR BODY PIERCINGS prior to donation day!!!

In addition, as part of our "Heartland Gives Back" initiative we will be collecting donations for the Bedford County Humane Society (http://www.bchsonline.org/).

As promised here is a copy of the e-mail we received in its entirety from the Bedford County Humane Society Treasurer, Lori Copley:

"Hello Nona and Dave,
It was good to speak with you as well and we are very excited that your group would like to support our organization!

Here are some of the items that we need: dry cat and dog food (any brand), canned dog food, puppy and kitten food, cat litter (any kind), paper towels, Simple Green (we have to be careful of what cleaning products we use as some are toxic to cats), dish liquid, laundry detergent, Walmart gift cards (we use these to buy small items like light bulbs and mop heads), office supplies (copy paper, stamps, envelopes), dog and cat treats and toys. We also appreciate monetary donations. As treasurer, I "tag" that money and we use it for whatever the donor specifies or it can go into the general fund.

Two services that people like to donate to are the spay/neuter program and Bea's Fund. We like to have our animals altered before they leave our care but that depends on the funds available. Bea's Fund is an account that we use for injured animals that require a lot of veterinary care. It's called Bea's Fund because we had a puppy (we named her Bea) come to the shelter after being thrown from a car. Her surgeries were quite expensive and, in the end, she died of her injuries. However, through Bea's Fund, we are able to pay for the necessary care for other injured animals. I think your members will be able to choose something from this list!

At least one or two of us would love to come to the potluck and meet you and your members! Please keep in touch and let me know if there is anything that we can do for you!

Again, thank you for your interest in helping the animals,
Lori Copley, BCHS Treasurer"

Nona & I would like to thank you in advacne for any and all donations you can provide for these worthy causes.

THANK YOU!

Hello Everyone,

We are going to have t-shirts for the rally, after all. They will be 100% pre-shrunk cotton by Gildan. They will be ash-gray with a unique design that compliments Heartland and the community. The price will be $15.00 and you can pay us at the rally. We need to know by 28 MAY if you want a t-shirt and the size. The t-shirts are based on men's sizes. Sorry for the late notice the designer has been swamped with other committments.

REMINDER ***

The campground will be hosting a Blood Drive in conjunction with their "Safety Day" events on Saturday. We challenge all rally participants to donate a "pint of life" as part of our Heartland Gives Back Initiative; so as a reminder......NO DISQUALIFYING TATTOOS NOR BODY PIERCINGS prior to donation day!!!

In addition, as part of our "Heartland Gives Back" initiative we will be collecting donations for the Bedford County Humane Society (http://www.bchsonline.org/ (http://www.bchsonline.org/)).

Nona & I would like to thank you in advance for any and all donations you can provide for these worthy causes.

Didn't think about that Dave ;), was just recalling my first ever visit to a blood drive. "what did you have for breakfast" - "I didn't eat yet" - "you can't give blood then" - "you mean I drove and hour for nothing"

You're a funny man Dave...next I see you I'm going to show you just how funny you are. ;)

Oh, hey folks!! Remember to increase your intake of IRON starting NOW if you tend to run a little on the low side...so you can be a good donor for someone who needs your blood. Get all those dark green leafy veggies in, sunflower seeds, dried apricots, and some cold cereals, just to name a few. Or you can pop an iron supplement too.... your iron level might be good for you, but to donate to someone in need, you need to have good full-of-iron red cells for the person getting your blood. This is why they do the finger stick during your interview...to check the iron content in your blood.

P.S. Colace will be provided at the pot-luck!!

Just a quick bit of info.

-2 fuel station just up the road from the campground, Diesel $3.89 and Gas $3.59
Several fuel stations just off the PA Turnpike, about 4-5 cents higher

-A convenience store and a small grocery store about a mile from campground
Several larger grocery stores 4-5 miles away

-Big reminder- NO beer or wine sold in convenience stores or grocery stores in PA. Bring your own or there is a beer distributor about 2 miles up the road.

Also, a Ford and Dodge dealer just outside the campground, for those who want to leave with something different.

See ya in a week
