First Trip Out

Just returned from our first trip out with the Cyclone. Went up to Happy Jack on the Mogollon Rim for a long weekend of camping and ATV'n in the pines (approx. 300 miles roundtrip). Stayed in an RV park with hook-ups this time around.

Experienced a few minor glitches, but overall very happy with the new hauler. Didn't have any hot water, even though the water heater seemed to be fully operational. Turned out the dealer hadn't switched the bypass while de-winterizing the unit from the factory. Figured out where the bypass was located, and finally hot water. Grey Tank #1 has the spongy valve/leaking issue, so have researched the forum for how-to fixes for that one. We optioned the pull down screen at rear ramp, and tried it, but couldn't figure out how to keep the screen in the down position, hmmm... Anticipate that we'll probably encounter some challenges with fresh water tank and fill when we get around to boondocking.

Towing went just fine. We slowed climbing up through Black Canyon (on the way up), and through Copper Canyon (on the way back), which is to be expected with a 6% grade. Had power to pass the slow moving semi's. A little bucking and chucking in the rough patches, but not bad. The unit currently tows a little low in the rear, will have to tweak the suspension on either the unit and/or the truck a bit to get it just right, nice and level.

Enjoyed the sound system immensely. Had the daughter with us, she had no trouble capturing an FM band on both stereos (inside and out) for simulcasting with an Ipod. I've got a Sony player with RCA jacks for plug-in play.

We were able to load our big quad and a small one side by side in the garage. The Rhino will fit by itself, with room to spare for a two wheeler.

All in all, a really great first trip! No plans 'yet' for another high country outing. Next scheduled trip on the calendar is the 55th Annual California RV Show in Pomona, CA in Oct. (be there, or be square, lol).
