Light for water heater stays on

Greetings, we set up for the first time with our 2009 3670rl. So fa so good, after locating a leak on the bathroom faucet. Fortunately all that took was tightening the nut underneath. My question is about the red light on the panel marked "heater". In our previous tow trailer, I think it came on when we were either out of gas, or when it was not lit. The light in the bighorn is constantly on, although everything seems to be working fine. Should the light always be on????? Or will it go out when we run out of gas???? Sorry for long winded question....it's what I do.

I assume you are talking about the "electric" switch in the interior panel. It will stay on as long as you are using shore power. You can toggle it on or off. Now, if you are talking about the switch that is located directly below the tank gauges..it will stay on as long as you are using propane to heat the water. I don' think it will go out when you run out of propane, your water heater will just not light.
