Hi everyone,
We are currently in Billings, mt and headed toward Shelby, MT---has anyone been on 87 N and then somewhat NW toward Great Falls, MT. Good? Bad? Any ideas are welcomed and appreciated.
thanks

We live in great falls, and have made that trip a couple of times. It is boring. Following highway 3 to great falls is a shorter drive, but just as boring?

Also, the predominant wind is out of the SW, so you will have a cross wind the whole time. And, if traveling this weekend, we have a winter weather watch/advisory for elevations >5000 ft (so rain for most of your trip).

Last Sept. we took 87 N out of Billings to Grass Range, thru Lewistown and then to Great Falls. 87 has lots of ups and downs, only 2 lanes but nice route. Gives you a good cross section of Montana. As for the road itself it was good, no worse than roads in other states. Where are you headed after Shelby. We are camp hosts at Eagle Nest RV park in Polson, MT at the southern end of Flathead lake. Beautiful park as well as area. If going to Glacier Park, going to the sun hiway won't be open until about the 13 of June. Roads are open to Apgar campground as well as Lake McDonald Lodge. Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip to Montana.

Also, if you time leaving great falls at dinner, the best steak we have had here is just north of town off the interstate at a place called cattlemans cut.
