Woo Hoo! Thanks Jay and Jim for the quick responses. I think we have more fun to discover in the Gulf Shores area. I just found out about a cool hide-a-way seafood restaurant not far north of Lulu's but off the beaten path. My sources promise great food and lots of fun. We need to get Bill and Ornel, David and Susan back too if they can make it. Say Hi to Stella and Nancy.

Great news today. Dave and Julie will join us again in Gulf Shores for the Rally next spring and Nathan and Byrd Mathis are 96% sure to be there also. Great to have both of you couples to join us for the AlaMissiBamaSippi Rally. Will we top 30 rigs this year??? We are going to work on getting as many Heartland folks as we can get to join us at Gulf Shores. I can't wait.

Ken and Faye- I have added your names to the attendees list. Thanks for coming to our Rally. As far as making a reservation, there is no need to do that until next spring around March 1st. The campground does not do site specific reservations, but they were very cooperative with our group last year; they worked within their rules but set up an area that was plenty big for our group and put our attendees into that area as we arrived. You will be able to choose your site; pull-through, back-in, angle to sun, etc. All sites are full hook-up, 50/30/20. I will post additional details as we get close to that point in time and also send emails to all that have signed up for the Rally. So glad to have you two come and Rally with us.

Jerry and Lily Worth from Montgomery, Alabama; charter founding members of the AlaMissiBamaSippi Chapter have signed on for the Spring Rally at Gulf Shores. Wow! lots of activity today. FYI- We have a Fall Rally coming up next month at Paul B. Johnson state park near Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Anyone looking for a Heartland Rally opportunity during the cooler Fall weather, check it out. Rally dates are October 18-21 but several are coming early.

Jerry, I replied to your PM with some information. We certainly hope you will plan to Rally with us; your friends too. We had a great Rally last year with many states represented; from Michigan down to Texas and Florida to Virginia. This time of year is great because many of the snowbirds are making their way back north and this is a great stop. Hope to hear from you soon.

Looks like you are filling up. We want to come to your rally. I haven't had time to even think about much other than getting ready for retirement, getting new truck going, and our rally. Whew! Give me a couple of days to get it worked out. We had a blast last year.

Malcolm and Val, I have posted you to the attendees list for the April Rally in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Look forward to meeting you there. Wish you could have made the Hattiesburg Rally, but understand work comes first. There is no need to make your park reservation until around March 1st. I will advise everyone when the time is right. Hey, Hogan,

Hi AUTigerFan,

There's a Club Portal Page that provides information about how to join the club, an explanation of benefits, and will likely answer all your questions. One of the recently added choices is the Introductory Membership which is free so you can experience some of the benefits of joining, without any risk. Here's a link to the Club Portal Page. (//heartlandowners.org/content.php/128-heartland-owners-club-portal)

Terri - Welcome to the Forum. To learn more about the Heartland Owners Club and the free introduction membership, just go back to the portal page (front page) and click on the Heartland Owner Club section (middle part of the page). The free introduction membership lets you do everything a full membership does but you will not get the name tags or camper's club plate. If you decide to upgrade during the free membership period, then you will be able to obtain the name tags and club plate.
As far as this upcoming rally, I know Hogan as well as all the other participants that will be coming to the rally will welcome you with open arms so plan on coming. We will be there and hope to meet both you and Roy.

Boys and Girls, we are happy to announce our pre-Rally entertainment brought to you in living color and surround sound; The US Navy demonstation team, The Blue Angels, will be performing at Pensacola Navel Air Station on April 23rd and 24th as they practice for their next weekend show. This is just a short drive down the beach from Gulf State Park, admission is free, parking is free, and after the show, you can tour the Air Museum, also free. Last year, we had a great crowd there; we will plan on April 24th for our group outing. Everyone in your vehicle must bring a photo ID to enter the base.

Now I'm going to have to see when Malcolm has us planned to arrived.....I'd love to see the Blue Angels!

NOTICE NOTICE
Jim and Marianne, And All others who are heading to the Gulf Shores Rally.
Around March 1st, I will email everyone and post to the Rally thread that it is time to make reservations at Gulf State park for the Rally. I you wish to make your reservations before that- it is okay. The park will gladly do that and take your deposit. The folks you talk to when you reserve probably won't know about our Rally group. It does'nt matter because the park does not do site specific reservations. As we did lastyear, we will be coordinating with park management so that when our folks start arriving at the park, even if you arrive early, you will be located in our Rally loop area. No reason to ask for it ahead of time because they won't commit our area until just prior to the Rally.

HO...........GAN............. Cleared with my navigator (read boss) and called the park to change our arrival date to the 23rd. Used an old number I had and the lady (Teresa) assisted but said the reservation number had changed. Were you aware?

One and only time I saw the Blue Angels fly was at Patuxent River, MD in the late 1970s. Took Mom, Dad, son and then wife.....impressive! I traveled to Pensacola NAS a bunch in my job and watched the air museum grow. Haven't been in 20+ years so it should be a hoot.

Hogan, We ran into some difficulty with delivery of our new San Antonio. The complete interior package was wrong ! Wood trim, fabric, furniture..all wrong. It has since been re-ordered and from talking to Ron at Heartland, all has been verified to be correct now. Still no firm delivery date as of today due to snow at the plant affecting the full body paint process. And, from what I hear on the road conditions it could not be delivered now anyway ! When will be the cutoff for the Gulf Shores Rally? We'd still like to make it if we can. We should get the VIN this week and plan to become members when we do. Wayne and Becky

Hello AlaMissiBamaSippi Rallyers. March is here and the timing is good to start getting your reservations made with Gulf State Park for the April Rally. When you call don't be concerned with telling them you are with the Heartland group. They do no do site specific reservations and will put us together as we arrive for the Rally. Keep in mind that several will arrive early for pre-fun. Look forward to seeing everyone at the Rally. If not too much trouble, email me at ahcooperii@gmail.com and tell me your arrival date. If you have already made your reservations, that's great. Thank you for being a part of this Rally and See you soon.

Not sure, I repeat, "not sure" about this, but I heard today that because of the "budget cuts" that the Blue Angels will not be performing after April 1st, 2013. I don't know if this applies to just shows and not for practicing, but then, if there are no shows, why do you need to practice.
My source is pretty reliable, but I do fall back on "I'm not sure".
Has anybody else heard anything about this?

Dick

jbeletti
03-06-2013, 07:26 PM
I dug up some info on their practices - but of course, it's always subject to change. And this schedule could be old and done before any proposed budget cuts.

Here's a link to the Blue Angels website (http://www.blueangels.navy.mil/show/).

Here's a link to a PDF that is their practice schedule (http://www.blueangels.navy.mil/media/show/2013PracticeSchedule.pdf).

As of today - looks like they are still on for Pensacola NAS in April as follows:
APRIL 2, 3*, 9, 10*, 16, 17*, 23, 24*, 30
Wednesday practices are marked with an asterisk (*).
The team visits the museum to answer questions and sign
autographs after Wednesday practices.

It sounds like just the kind of exuberant activities for our group. If you're game, I am ready. Had lunch today at Doc's Seafood Shack; their lunch specials are yummy and a big meal. maybe we should get a lunch group to head there pre-Rally. They have good strippers.....or maybe that was good stripers. Desota's Seafood Kitchen down on 1st Avenue has a good lunch special also and don't forget about Mikie's on Second Avenue if you shrimp is your favorite. We have several first-timers coming to Gulf Shores State Park. Always good to get new folks into the fun. I'm sure there will be lots of talk on the soon approaching National Rally at Goshen, Indiana in June. For those who have not yet planned to attend, you will be missing out on a great get-together if you don't go. Heartland does this one up in a big way and you will meet folks from all around the country that make up our big family.

John, and everyone, when we checked in this afternoon, the staff was aware of the Heartland rally and apparently Teresa had already assigned a site to everyone who is registered. I was told that I would be in site 158 on back row where most people were last year. However, after repeated requests, I was changed to site 174 which is a pull through on the row we were on last year. I did this because of being a toy hauler and needing to get the back ramp down so I could let the "sleepng beast" out of its cage...took some real begging but was accomodated

Ken, I'm sorry but I don't agree with your statement at all. Actually, I was quite surprised that you would make such a statement. I want evertbody that reads this to know that am not "much" older than you.

Dave, as far as being "great golfers", well I think you are mixing me up with somebody else. Just last week I played and had a terrible round. To give you an idea on how bad I played, I lost two balls in the ball washer.
Ken plays pretty good but I wouldn't exactly call him a "great golfer. The last time he and I played I kept telling him, that when he hits the ball, "to keep his head down"........so he wouldn't see me laughing.

Is Wednesday going to be our golf day???

Jan and Bill, we are working on getting an agenda typed up and copied for all. In the meantime, here are the things I am aware of: A group of us (all invited) are going down to Sea and Suds for lunch today at 11:30A It is located about 3 blocks east of the 59 Coast hwy intersection on the beach. You have to walk between two hotels to get to it, but you can see it from the street. Wednesday morning, there is a non-official golf outing at the Gulf State park golf course. I will find out Tee times and post it. Wednesday afternoon the early birds are headed over to LuLu's for early dinner. They don't take reservations, but do like to have a warning call for big groups. We plan to arrive there at 4pm to beat the crowd. Let me know if you can go and I will add you to the head count. Hogan

Been here a couple of days and having a ball.

Played golf yesterday with a great bunch of guys. There were 8 of us which worked out great for 2 foursomes. I played with Ken H, Wayne C and Dick H. After going through some serious surgery a few months ago, Ken was hitting the ball pretty good (especially the back nine)....when we finished he mentioned he was a little tired, I'm sure he slept well last night. Wayne hit the ball a ton off the tee but struggled a little with his second shots. Towards the end of the round he was offering any one of us a dollar just to hit his second shot. One of us could have made a few bucks. Dick Hill was a pleasure to watch. A true artist on the links! Those of us that are familiar with the game know the meaning of a "shot maker". Dick took the time to show us shots that I doubt any of us have ever seen on the PGA tour......and he showed us sooooo many of these shots. Thank you Dick H, you're a good sport. As for myself, I also struggled on the front nine but improved a little on the back nine.

There is talk about playing again on Friday morning to give the late arrivers a chance to play (such as Nathan & Jim L). I'm in and Ken said he'd play also.
Post here, or let Ken or myself know.

Thank you Hogan, for "putting" a fun day together.
