Residential Refrigerator replacement for an RV

Has anyone replaced their RV absorption refrigerator with a residential unit? How's it work for you and what do you do when there is no shore power?

I've read where some have done it and like it. They run off an inverter when hooked to the truck for 12 volt. Otherwise the batteries wouldn't keep up. I think one or two high end manufacturers even offer it as an option...Don

wingfoot,found your thread and interested if you have persued this?I have looked at some at RV shows have been told they are using a 1000w inverter for fridge and no problem for a day without hook ups.I have the 1350 no issues at present just not real confident with it.
